Discography
I have had the privilege of serving a multitude of musical projects throughout my career both as a professional trombone player and singer/songwriter. From 2008-2015, I served as lead singer and guitar player for Portland Senator. In 2011, the band released their debut album and toured behind it throughout the following year. Philadelphia's public-radio station 88.5 WXPN said, "With a hint of Avett Brothers’ vocals and instrumentation with touches of Pearl Jam and The Decemberists, Portland Senator has created an honest and unique take on the indie folk-rock genre. The Philly locals have a hypnotizing air about them worthy of repeated listenings." In 2014, the band released a follow-up EP titled, "The Man I'm Supposed to Be" which was recorded exclusively on a reel-to-reel tape machine.
As a trombone player, I perform regularly with the Philly Kroc Jazz Orchestra and a number of other free-lance projects throughout the Philadelphia area. In 2017, I played trombone for Pulitzer-prize and Grammy-winning composer David Lang's world premiere of Symphony for a Broken Orchestra. The composition was written to highlight the unique sounds that broken instruments make. Following the premiere, the project was the catalyst for the repair of over 1,000 instruments for the School District of Philadelphia. Symphony for a Broken Orchestra is a city-wide effort initiated by Temple Contemporary in partnership with the School District of Philadelphia, the Philadelphia Orchestra, The Boyer College of Music & Dance, the Curtis Institute and numerous professional/amateur musicians in support of music education for our public schools. Recordings from the orchestra are currently being used for a Symphony For A Broken Orchestra album in which independent artists remix the orchestral sounds that will accompany the world premiere performance. I also appear on a number of big band albums released by the Mansfield University Jazz Ensemble directed by Dr. Michael Galloway, entitled Smack Dab in the Middle (2011) and Cease and Desist (2013). I also play trombone on two 2013-14 Grammy eligible recordings from the Mansfield University Wind Ensemble directed by Dr. Adam F. Brennan, The Music of Greg Danner, Vol. 2: Critical Speed and Malachi: A Celebration of a Special Life. |
