2009-2014
"With a hint of Avett Brothers’ vocals and instrumentation with touches of Pearl Jam and The Decemberists, Portland Senator has created an honest and unique take on the indie folk-rock genre. The Philly locals have a hypnotizing air about them worthy of repeated listenings."

THE MAN I'M SUPPOSED TO BE - EP (2014)
This album was born out of a necessity to return to the early roots of recording; when you were limited by the length of tape you had on your reel and bound by the simplicity of the hardware to perform live and honestly to get a good take. I have always tried to honor these traditions within our modern practices as a band but nothing compares to actually investing in a truly analog project of this type. The Man I’m Supposed to Be album has been a true labor of love; from the restoration of the tape machine, the countless hours writing and then recording the tunes, and even opening up and sorting through the boxes of old 35mm slides to find pictures of my dad for the album art. The entire process has given us a wider lens in which to appreciate and observe the world we live. It has given us a greater appreciation for the past, and an appreciation for the present. And even more so, provided an outlook in which we hope to meld our love for both the analog and digital world into an art form that balances the honesty and innovation that both provide.

PORTLAND SENATOR (2011)
The first full length studio album from Portland Senator is the culmination of a two year long project in which the band wrote, rehearsed, toured, and recorded all while attending their respective universities. Released June 13th, 2011, the self-titled album was recorded live with each track being a whole take of each song. The goal was to capture the live energy of the group in a studio setting so that each song retains the honesty it has at a live show
Almost a year after its physical release, the band released the album digitally in February 2012. Taking a queue from Radiohead's "In Rainbows" style of distribution, the band wants the listener to decide what to pay for a download of the album. Excited to have their first album complete, the gentlemen of Portland Senator are grateful to have an opportunity to play and share their music with anyone who will listen.
